Grooving with Glee's Harry Shum, Jr.
Harry Shum Jr. really is the hardest working dancer in showbiz! You best know him as Mike Chang on Glee (get ready for his storyline to get beefed up in season 2) but he’s also starring in this summer’s ultimate dance-off Step Up 3D plus starring, producing and choreographingThe LXD (Legion of Extraordinary Dancers) – a new online dance adventure on
Hulu. But did you also know he’s been a back-up dancer for everyone from
Beyoncé to J.Lo and is the silhouette on the iPod commercials!? TeenMag was happy that Harry had just a few extra minutes in his crazy schedule to answer a few of our most pressing qs!
Dream Glee Guest Star: Oh there are so many I can’t just choose one! Have you seen our lineup? It’s like a dream to be working with these all-stars. I would love to see Obama make a visit to Lima, Ohio. Meeting him for a second time would make us pals right?
High School Memories: I wasn’t in my Glee Club but I was in theatre and the dance team. I played tennis and track and field. I think I would have broke in half if I played football in high school [like Mike Chang]. I was a scrawny kid.
Signature Club Dance Moves: The head bop, simple yet you can throw any other move in there to spice it up.
Favorite Dancer He’s Backed: Beyonce. She impressed me every time she hit the stage.
On His iPod: Passion Pit’s “I’ve Got Your Number”
Dream Song to Choreograph: Jason Mraz “I’m Yours.” I performed it live but would love to put it on film.
Superpower: Healing powers. I wouldn’t mind being the Medicine Man.
